OCreating Rifts on Different Materials

Solids
Ground / Rock material
- a given, and can be done.
- Both flat and vertical are not an issue.
- this is the standard for portals.
Living Beings
- Not yet attempted
- Most non-hostile beings are too small
- Most hostile beings are too aggressive and difficult.
- Perhaps if they are caught, but I would need some time.
- I might also ask for a volunteer, but it is extremely unlikely that anyone will accept.

Liquids
Underwater entirely is difficult, but in lesser amounts it seems possible.
Theory: I believe the Bend or Rift created needs to have a place of 'grounding', a side of a defined space or object in which the magic can 'latch' to, like a vine around a trunk, or up a cliffside. Being surrounded by water makes the single surface placement of magic impossible; there are too many points from which to latch, a bend would inevitably be created in all directions, resulting in - perhaps even a vortex. As it would attempt to 'wrinkle' space-time outward in an assumed sphere, thus effectively shrinking it all at once in a single area without leaving any side to compensate within the 'sphere'. While I am curious, this seems possibly deadly or worse to attempt with me as its necessary center.

Can create a portal while not fully submerged; it resides on the surface of the water. (this resonates with the theory)

Can create chaotic 'sparks' on fog and water droplets
Theory: perhaps with more practice, it can be adjusted to fog and mist, though it seems a different sort of concentration will be involved; one that focuses on a location of the rift, as opposed to a rift using a surface as grounding. It would also need an /extremely/ steady focus, now that I consider it, and may not be worth it when thinking of the consequences.

Potential consequences: losing concentration on the rift's location could provide a 'shakey bend', meaning, it may bend more than one part of space-time, and make crossing from one end to the other quite difficult, due to less defnition. Likelyhood of falling to the In-Between increases dramatically. Furthermore, if one steps on multiple sides of a Bend, they may end up in multiple places... in a different state. I cannot predict the state, though I imagine 'warped' would be the nicest way of putting it.

Gases
- Thus far, I have not been able to do this.
- It would be a similar semblance to the vapor and underwater, though, I suppose.
- Thus, highly dangerous, require untold focus, and probably not worth the risks with such a high chance of problem from a tiny mishap.

Situations (to try later)

Rifts while falling
Idea: Only able to work by a ledge, create a portal on the side of a cliff while falling, and then use the bottom of one's own feet as a base for the second portal before hitting the ground. One could effectively port themselves back to the point on the ledge.

Theory: If creating a portal on a being could work, this would be possible. However, I would need to see if the portal 'stuck' to the being, (as in, the being could move and the rift would still be centered on them as they did) or if it is anchored to both being and location. If it is the later, should the being move, the portal would dissipate. While the being potentially becoming a 'moving transport' for a portal is an interesting concept, it is also a messy one, as the bend would get warped the more the being moved; likely resulting in a less stable portal the more mobile the being was. Also, if this is the case in this scenario, it could be catastrophic. Having one end of the bend be teleported backwards through the bend it is creating may cause some kind of spacial collapse, vortex, or 'warp' the one in question to an untold degree; if they even emerge through the portal at all. On the other hand, if the portal dissipates when the subject moves, this could work flawlessly.
